I'm helping my brother get his 74 Ford E-100 Van up and going and to a point that it can pass emissions. The engine is a 4.9L 300 Straight 6. The engine seems to be in good condition I've pulled the spark plugs, checked the compression. The current problem is, I can't seem to find a vacuum or emission diagram anywhere. The van is in the condition that I'm sure the sticker if it had one came off long ago. There is not an accurate one that I can find in Hanes or Chiltons manuals, Ford says they have no clue... anyways I'm stuck. I've come accross this forum and wondering if anyone has a diagram they can send to me or knows where I can get one that would be great. Thanks

Hi, Do you have Skype on your computer to talk over the internet free? The program is free and it requires a mic, speakers and a DSL , Cable or something faster than dial up to connect to the internet. I have things I can go over with you but it would be much easier to talk about it then list. Let me know, John

Hello,

Unfortunately I don't have Skype. I should prob get it. I'd have to go home and download it, then I could let you know. is there another way of contact that would work for you?

Thanks

Mikhail

Hi Mikhail,
We could do it by phone we would just have to work out a time that works for both of us. John

It should'nt be too hard to hook up your vacuum lines. Your distributor probably has 2 lines going to it, one for ported vacumm, the other for manifold vacuum. The outside nipple goes to the ported connection at your carb. The nipple closest to the distributor shaft (pointed up) goes to your manifold vacuum (should be a connection below the carb).

You should also have an EGR valve. That line from the EGR valve would go to a "switch" that's screwed into your engine, probably near the front . It runs off of coolant temp. the "switch" is actually just a sensor with 2 nipples sticking out of it for your vacuum lines. Run the other line to near your carb, you'll probably see an area to connect it to.

The only other vacuum line you would probably have would control your door on your air cleaner snorkel. Look under the snorkel, you'll see 2 nipples, One line comes from one of the nipples and goes a few inches to the vacuum actuated motor on the snorkel, the other line goes below the carb.. you should see the place to plug it onto. I believe its manifold vacuum.

Clear as mud??

Hope this helps... Randy B
