hey guys just wondering if these door latch assemblies will work for a '72 E300. i would imagine they would, but thats just me being hopeful. Any input would be great. I need the complete set up for the locking mech. on the rear door...also the front two locking mechanisms only lock from the inside. not with the key from the inside...

thanks again.

According to my catalog they're not the same. Sorry.
One thing I didn't realize is that (according to the catalog) the mechanisms are the same on the front doors as they are on the side and rear. Anyway,, I might have some spare ones lying around but it might take me a couple days to check on that. Maybe someone else will chime in that has some.

As far as the locks go, if you can't lock the doors from the outside with the key,, then the rod might have popped loose or something. Unless I misread your post, and there's something else wrong there.

Are the rods connected correctly or are the rod ends worn or are the holes the rods go into worn?

Just to clarify things here,, are you saying that the key won't turn to lock the door?.. Or does the key turn,, but doesn't lock the door?.

If the rod popped loose from the little piece that's attached to the lock, you'd probably feel no resistance at all when turning the key. If it feels like it's trying to move things in there but it still won't lock, then maybe the rod popped loose on the latch end, or things are just gunked up in there.
