So glad we finally found this site! My husband KNEW there had to be people out there that appreciated these vans as much as he does. Looking forward to finally being able to get some intellegent  answers to those inevitable questions that pop up.

Very, very nice Econoline! How long have you owned it? Also, I was unaware that Ford used the term Chateau for cargo vans; I'd expect it to be a Custom package with all that chrome and trim. Do you have more pics? :)

Thanks for the welcome!

My husband bought this new in '78 (yup, the original owner); he takes really good care of the things he values, and he values a good looking, well running vehicle.. I'll have to check with him about the custom package, he'd had it for several years before I met him, but it is definitely a Chateau. He just put in a new 427 stroker. Oooh man oh man, even at 6000 lbs that thing hauls; scares me , thrills him :) .

I lost nearly all of the pics I had when our last computer crashed, but I do have one of him installing the new engine and plan on taking some others. Will share as soon as I find them on my disc.

The Chateau option was available on the Econoline Camper chaise before 1975.After 1975 it was available on every Econoline body including the PDV and Commercial Cutaway.
