Just a staring note here for this area of the board that Roger has been kind enough to offer. Just to give you some background history about me I have been in the Automotive Parts Industry for over 30 years now that includes Automotive as well as Heavy Duty Trucks and Buses. I have a very large Collection of Automotive Magazines and Parts Books dating back to the 1920's that also includes Ford Dealer Parts books that include Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars and trucks from the 1920's to 1989. I also have two 12 foot sections of book cases with automotive aftermarket parts catalogs that cover back into the 1940's. I also have another section of book cases that have pretty complete collections of magazines (in order by year and month) of Hot Rod, Car Craft and a host of others starting in the 1950's. Both Randy and Marlon have had the chance to see and use this collection when visiting. I am also working on getting Dealer Parts books and or CD's for GM and Chry products as well. Anyway if any one has questions or needs info about a part I am willing to help out if I can, just place your request here so I am sure to see it and will respond. Thanks, John

John: I need a speedo cable and housing for my quadra van. The cable is ten inches longer because it goes to the spicer 20 transfer case instead of the C4 like on a stocker. The original is making the speedo bounce at low speeds and I'm finally tired of it being that way. Any help would be appreciated...... Greg

Greg, Have you tried lubing up the internal cable to see if it is just sticking? They do make a special lube for the cable if you want to try that first. There are some aftermarket companies that make cable and casings, I could try and see what is around if you want to go that way. Let me know, John

John: Well I think I'm good on this speedo cable now. I think the problem was that the cable was about one eighth of an inch to long and was putting thrust on the speedo bearing. I noticed there was a little spring feeling just before the housing would bottom to the speedo nipple. I pulled the cable compleatly out and trimed off a little form the tranfer case end, lubed it up again and problem gone. Will see if the problem comes back over time as I did try the lube thing months back and it made no differance... Either way;; thanks John you saved me from having to buy a new cable for now........... Greg

Can you tell me if an emergency cable on 73 F-100's is one piece or right & left??? I was on one site looking for one and they had a right & left listed for $21.?? each. I posted to a couple of sites and one said they did not have it and the other sent me a price od $129.??. & did not say if it was one side or the whole setup. One side of the cable on the 84 F-150 SB/SS has been cut and I need to replace either it or the whole thing.

Thanks Much
Ron

I will have to remember that, (Senior Moments) because it seems like I have a number of them anymore.
