Hi All,
I took my newly acquired grill and light trim to a anodizing house and had them strip off the anodizing. It only took 20 minutes and cost me 30 bucks. tongue.gif

Could be stricter regulations on this type of thing up your way Randy,,, but the place that stripped and re-anodized my 74's grill was listed in the phone book under "plating".

I'm totally going to sound like a retard here, but does removing the anodizing make it look like new or like chrome or what. That place is super close so I'll have to check it out!

Anyone...

Helloooooo?
Vic
Hey Jay,

Removing the Anodizing just exposes the aluminum. The Anodizing just seals the aluminum so it does not oxidize and it gives it slight shinny look. If you polish the aluminum, it would be shinier then the anodizing. But without a coating, it would slowly dull over time. I figure you can polish the aluminum and clear coat it or Chrome it.

You can't chrome aluminum, Vic, but you CAN anodize it.

What?!

When am I ever going to get another chance to be able to correct Vic? When?! tongue.gif

You can't chrome aluminum....
Yes you can!
Roger
Yup,, you sure can. I don't know if the process of chroming has changed,, or the type of aluminum being used nowadays has changed,, but they are chroming aluminum now.
