looking for a good wiring diagram for the wiper system on a 78 e250 with delay wipers
'any help would be greatly appreciated
Vic
Hi Crazz,

John Sheedy has the diagrams, but he has not been on the board for a few days. When I talked to him last, he stated he has been busy at work and has not had time to drop in onto the board. Hopefully John can chime in with some diagrams.

Crazz,,, the images below are from a 1982 Ford shop manual that I have. I think it should be the same as your 78,, but I'm not certain about that. This was in a section describing how to test the system, which is why it looks like 4 duplicate diagrams. It's actually showing the current paths when the switch is in each different position. Since it was the only diagram I could find, I figured I might as well scan the testing information too (see my next post). You can click on the image to enlarge them. Hope it helps some.

Testing procedures. Hope it makes more sense to you than it does to me.

This one is from a haynes manual. Not sure how much it helps. They don't seem to scan very well from these manuals. Let me know if it looks right, and if you need any others.

This one is the 1978 and later one.
Roger
And here's one for 75-77... I don't think this one is for intermittent wipers though.

i was told by my local ford dealership that this is the correct part number for my 78 e250 fouz17c476a
then was superceded to SW2267. i found this one on ebay brand new, but the part number is diff than the ones thats in my van. but yet the
plugs look to be the same, so i wonder if anyone knows if the SW2267 will work or not. if so its like 40 bucks.
Roger
Crazz,, what is the part number on the one in your van?.
Crazz
these are the numbers i see on blacl box. D5UB part#17c476
Roger
I'm stumped. Funny thing is,,, the motorcraft site lists that SW2267 number,, but even they don't seem to know what it fits. Same goes for rockauto.com... And they even have a picture of the darn thing. rolleyes.gif
Crazz
yea its wierd, all the plug ins look the same, its cheap enough i think i'm just gonna order it and see what happens LOL
Roger
Certainly cheaper than the other places I saw it. Seems it was anywhere from $90-105.
Crazz
yea there epensive, got lucky to find it on ebay. it was brand new motorcraft. some people say it will not work. but other say it'll be fine. i'll make it work. need to get this thing inspected so i can drive it and see if it needs any front end work.
Crazz
put the new part on today at lunch, they seem to work ok now, will no more in a bit when i put the new motor on it. to make sure they will park
Crazz
they work good, but the delay don't kick in and they don't park. it'll pass inspection but i still want to get them working right
Crazz
all fixed working properly now.
