Full Version: NO SPARK COMING OUT OF COIL

71 ECONOLINE 302 AUTO no air , all new wires , cap , rotor , coil , points , battery , solenoid , condenser , pretty much everything , van ran fine for years , put up a year ago due to finances . checked continuity from coil wire to points , turned key on and pry opened points and they sparked checked all wires , replaced coil twice with accel $100 ones and a new stock one . also checked /relaced wire from dist to coil , need help

do you have the resistor on the coil, and check to see that it is only getting 9 volt's not 12, + side . (I think thats what the resistor wire brings it down to. You are checking for spark from the coil wire right? ( not a spark plug wire.) Make sure you are getting juice during the start mode ( key all the way on).

Were all of these new parts replaced because of the problem you're having?.. Or were they replaced before you had to put the van away a year ago?.
Did you set the point gap correctly?.
Probably a dumb question,, but have you checked for spark at the plugs?.

Bad gas that coated the plugs.

Put in new plugs, blast the plugs, or clean the plugs with paint thinner and burn it off.
