I will trade straight across this large deluxe? horn ring for the smaller horn button. You pay to mail to me, I pay to mail to you.
Send to Alaska via USPO only, or you will pay big $$ to UPS or Fedex. They rip us bad!
I will send you mine first so you can swap out.
I have two, they are both in good shape, I'll pick the best of the two to send you. Will be very well packed to avoid breakage.

Trade you this..(it had not yet been cleaned up)

for this..

I want a brown one as shown. I can send some close up pix of the rim if you PM me your e-mail address.

I would also buy a small horn button & pay for the mail if the price was really, really cheap!
Parts for '69- 74 Econo's are pretty much non-existant up here. None at all in any junkyard.
That's why there are 5 of them in my yard.

I can start looking but these are rare even here, especially brown.
Tom Snyder
These are rare? I'd thought the big horn rings were much less common.

Maybe you are right, you have corrected me too many times here, Mister Snyder. But, regardless, I will keep an eye out.

But, brown is never commom.

Well, maybe I'm wrong too. Just seems like I have seen mostly the small ones. And brown more often than not. It doesn't have to be brown.

Corrected you too many times? Sorry 'bout that, but somebody's gotta keep ya in line.
But ya don't have to call me names. Mister Snyder?
Thanks for keepin' an eye out!

Hello Mister Snyder. I found a decent blue horn button if you are interested.......
So, what's the deal? Buy, sell, trade??
RC72E-100
I'll just pass it along. PM me your info....
Tom Snyder
Thanks, I can go with that and will pay for the part and shipping. But if you want to hold off for a bit (because going to the post office can be a real pain) I am still going to try to get a brown one. I assumed that the large horn rings were more rare than the small buttons and that some folks would jump on the chance to trade. Judging by the response, perhaps not.
Tom Snyder
Looks like I wrongly assumed that the large horn rings were more rare and desired than the small buttons and people would be eager trade.
So, RC72E-100, I am going to take you up on your generous offer for the blue one. Just PM'd you my info.
Be sure to give me your info so I can reimburse you.
THANKS!

Mailed today. I haven't tried it, but I read about a method for spray painting. After the button is prepared, use a small brush and paint the silver "Ford" name and the silver trim circle with Vasoline (carefully), then paint. After the part is dry, wipe off the Vasoline. Sounds like it would work. Enjoy..... biggrin.gif
Tom Snyder
Much appreciated!
Hmm.. don't think I'll be trying that Vaseline masking thing. Seems I have read where someone tried something like that using some kind of grease. Ended up with a big mess had to start over.
The grease kind of bleeds away from the area intended to be covered.
Another way would be using polishing compound to remove paint from the high spots.
Not gonna worry about it.
Thought I might use some mild paint remover & just leave the whole thing chrome.
Thanks!
Tom Snyder
Ray, got the horn button Saturday, put a check in the mail for you that night.

A soft brass bristled wire wheel on a bench grinder made short work of most of the paint. Done.
Thanks, Man!
